Mazdak Mirabedini
was born in Tehran in 1976. He studied mathematics for two years, went to the military service for two years, and studied classical music for another two, before he finally goes to the United States in 2000 and study Cinema.
Mazdak made 8 short films in Los Angeles during the 2-year college time, and graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005. He returned to Iran and began making features such as Cabby and Red Book.
In 2008 and as an actor/producer Mirabedini co-established 1050 VM Production in Boston, crafting an independent feature Over There (Won Thessaloniki's Golden Alexander) as well as Crying Deer, an experimental theatre piece.
Mazdak began teaching film and theatre to the kids, as well as making short documentaries from 2010. He also acted in several movies such as Farewell Baghdad, Everything for Sale and Confiscation.
Mirabedini, who often acts in his own movies, wrote and directed his first professional film, Raqse Pa (Footwork); the story of an actor / writer / teacher, who feels alienated and estranged in his home town, Tehran.
